Wendi Aylward  – President

wendiWendi Aylward is the managing director of AIFS (Australia) and is CAPAA’s founding and current president, having chaired CAPAA for the last 6 years. Wendi has worked in management roles with DFAT and cultural exchange provider, CIEE, and has lived and worked in Boston, London and Tokyo. In addition to her role as the managing director of AIFS (Australia) for the past 13 years, Wendi is part of an policy advisory group for IAPA (International Au Pair Association) in addition to serving on the BYTAP panel (the youth and backpacking panel under the Australian Tourism Export Council. Wendi is a founding member of CAPAA,  represents the association at meetings with government, and is an active media spokesperson for the industry.

Jackie Rylance  – Secretary

Jackie is the founder of Dream Nannies Childcare Recruitment and has been matching Au Pairs with families for over 10 years now.Jackie (2)

Originally from the UK, Jackie moved to Australia with young children and enjoys this amazing country with its fabulous lifestyle. Jackie has a corporate sales and recruitment background and has hosted many Au Pairs and was also an Au Pair in Italy in her younger days! Jackie regularly travels to Europe and has an in depth understanding of international Au Pair Programs and the cultural benefits they bring,

As a busy mum she really understands the value the Au Pair program brings to both families and young people seeking a cultural exchange.

Heather Smaellie – Treasurer

Heather Smaelie was born in the UK and is a founding member of CAPAA. Considered a pioneer in introducing au pairs to the families of Perth, she started the first Western Australian Au Pair Agency in 2001. Heather has lived in New Zealand and Australia and worked in shipping, IT and investment and  has coordinated homestay placements and study group tours for language schools. She has also recruited international students to study in Western Australia, hosted many International students herself, and was a volunteer assistant and fundraising coordinator for 12 years with Camp Quality. Heather has always enjoyed working with youth from all countries and is proud to welcome them to Australia and show them our beautiful country and culture, our unique lifestyle.
