History
Batika Circus Arts and Fitness was founded in Melbourne in 2011 with a vision to combine fitness and artistry. The school offered circus arts, and physical conditioning for people of all ages and abilities, quickly gaining a reputation for its inclusive environment and professional-level training. It became a popular hub for children and adults alike, fostering both physical fitness and creativity. The COVID-19 pandemic in 2020 forced the business to shut down for two years, creating a period of uncertainty. During this time, the founder, maintained community engagement through online classes and virtual workshops, though in-person operations were halted. In 2022, the founder relocated to Canberra, temporarily stepping back from running the school. This move allowed time to regroup and rethink the organization’s future. Later that year, the business was rebranded as Circus and Performing Arts Australia (CAPAA). The rebranding aimed to reach a wider audience and foster creativity, collaboration, and physical expression across multiple art forms. In 2025, due to unforeseen personal circumstances, CAPAA relocated back to Melbourne and is in the process of reestablishing itself, preparing to start fresh and full force in 2026, ready to rebuild its community, grow its programs, and continue inspiring creativity and skill development in circus and performing arts. |
